Police raided Antioch home over 2021 homicide linked to Tre-4 gang, famous rapper

ANTIOCH — Police raided a 22-year-old man’s home hear, seizing guns and swabbing his mouth for DNA, after he was identified as a suspect in a 2021 gang-related homicide, this news organization has learned.

The April 7 raid, targeting a man living on the 5300 block of Woodside Way in Antioch, came just days before authorities announced that another suspect — a famous rapper named Reno Fiapoto, aka Tear It Off Greezy — had been charged in the killing.

Police say three gunmen used a total of four guns to shoot and kill 21-year-old Derrick McDougal on March 16, 2021, at an Arco gas station on the 2200 block of Barrett Avenue in Richmond. The motive, prosecutors allege, was a rivalry between Fiapoto’s gang, Tre-4, and McDougal’s gang, Double Rock.

Both gangs are based in San Francisco, and the rivalry has been linked to several other killings around the Bay Area, according to police.

Detectives have testified that they’re confident on the identities of the other two suspects, but thus far, no one has been charged. One of them, a 25-year-old Antioch man, is serving a prison sentence in an unrelated Walnut Creek shooting. The other, identified by police as the 22-year-old Antioch resident, remains free.

During the raid, police seized more than 50 rounds of ammunition, a stolen 9mm pistol, a “drum” magazine, and swabbed the 22-year-old’s mouth for DNA, authorities said. He was released from police custody after the search.

Authorities conducted the raid after shells recovered from McDougal’s homicide scene were linked to a Pittsburg shooting that occurred inside a 7-Eleven in 2025, authorities said. The 22-year-old man was a suspect in that shooting, but just like in the homicide, he has not been charged.

McDougal was pumping gas when three masked gunmen ran at him, firing numerous shots. Authorities say he pulled his own handgun and fired back. Fiapoto allegedly used two firearms in the shooting, then the three returned to a stolen rental Jeep and left the area.

A San Francisco police investigator tentatively identified Fiapoto as a suspect from surveillance footage, but he wasn’t arrested until this year, when police matched his DNA to some found inside the Jeep, according to police testimony. Prosecutors have also said a song he recorded with another suspected Tre-4 gang member, “McLovin,” references the killing.

Since Fiapoto’s arrest in April, things have proceeded at lightning speed for a murder case. He was held to answer at his June preliminary hearing, and is assisting on a speedy trial, which is set to start in less than a month on Aug. 3.

Further complicating matters, the man prosecuting Fiapoto, Deputy District Attorney Arshpal Singh, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on July 4 in downtown Walnut Creek, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery and being drunk in public. The arrest has not resulted in charges but it has called his employment status into question, and the Contra Costa DA’s office has failed to publicly address whether he remains with the office or is going on leave.
