SAN JOSE — One person died and another was hospitalized Sunday night in a shooting in the downtown area, police said.

Officers were called to the area of N. Market Street and W. Santa Clara Street at 9:12 p.m., according to a brief social media post by police. Police said they prounounced one person dead on the scene and that another person had life-threatening injuries and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital.
Police are investigating the case as a homicide, the 13th they’ve investigated this year.

Police closed several nearby streets to investigate.
No other information was available immediately. Police said they would provide more information Monday.
