Road closures in Santa Clara for USA vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina at Levi’s

SANTA CLARA — During the U.S. men’s national team Round of 32 match against Bosnia Herzegovina on Wednesday for the FIFA World Cup, fans and residents will need to navigate road closures throughout Santa Clara for the sixth and final match of the tournament at Levi’s Stadium.

Wednesday’s match will be the last time this year Levi’s holds the temporary name of “San Francisco Bay Area Stadium” to comply with FIFA regulations.

The US men’s team secured their spot in the knockout round after reaching the top of Group D with a 2-0 win against Australia in its second match of the tournament in Seattle on June 19.

Though they fell 3-2 to Turkey in Los Angeles on Thursday, they had already locked in their first Round of 32 match at Levi’s. Bosnia-Herzegovina beat Qatar 3-1 on Wednesday, locking in their spot against the U.S. this week. This is just the second time ever the country has played in the World Cup, following a first appearance in 2014 in Brazil, and the first time the national team has made it to the knockout round.

The City of Santa Clara will close Tasman from Great America Parkway to Calle Del Sol between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Tasman from Great America Parkway to Lick Mill Boulevard from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, according to the city’s website.

Roadway traffic will be detoured through Great America Way, Great America Parkway, Lafayette Street, and Calle De Luna/Calle Del Sol to bypass the closure to the north

The San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail will also be closed to bicyclists and pedestrians between 8 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pedestrian traffic will be detoured through Mission College Boulevard and Great America Parkway to bypass the creek trail closure. Bike traffic will be detoured around the closure through Agnew Road, Lakeshore Drive, Gianera Street, and Stars and Stripes Drive.

Tickets for the last match at Levi’s were starting at more than $2,600 on Ticketmaster’s website by Friday afternoon, with the most expensive tickets topping $12,000-$15,000.
