The incident was reported Feb. 11 at the Costco in the 2300 block of Middlefield Road, according to the Redwood City Police Department.
The suspect approached the victim, revealed a firearm concealed in his waistband and made a threatening statement, police said, adding that the incident was caught on camera.
Officers contacted the man at his home later the same day, but he declined to speak with them, police said. Detectives later secured search warrants for the suspect, as well as his home and cars.
On Wednesday, detectives stopped the man as he drove away from his home with his wife and two children.
