‘Alienated’ Brad Pitt romanced girlfriend in Paris while missing kids’ milestones

Brad Pitt doesn’t look like a man who’s mostly been in the news lately because of the various ways his six young adult children reportedly want nothing to do with him — to the extent that he didn’t attend his youngest son’s high school graduation and his oldest daughter felt forced to file legal documents to drop his surname from her own.

Instead, the 62-year-old movie star has been going around Europe, looking handsome, happy and generally pleased with life. He’s been photographed in a variety of glamorous locations, from the picturesque Lake Garda in Northern Italy to the Roland-Garras stadium in Paris. In the latter location on June 6, Pitt enjoyed lots of PDA with his stylish, 33-year-old girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, as they watched the women’s singles final at the French Open, InStyle reported.

But that French Open date took place the day after Pitt’s 17-year-old son Knox was recorded, getting his diploma at his high school graduation in Los Angeles. While Pitt wasn’t there, his ex-wife and Knox’s mother, Angelina Jolie, was there, cheering on their son. Meanwhile, Pitt and de Ramon enjoyed another hot date a few days earlier, attending a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Paris, as the New York Post reported.

This has become Pitt’s reality in the aftermath of his 2016 split from Jolie, 51. A messy and bitter divorce and custody battle followed and went on for eight years. The Daily Mail reported last month that he has become estranged from all six of his children, ages 24 to 17, so presumably he wouldn’t have a reason to attend any of their important life events.

Three of those children, Maddox, 24, Zahara, 21, and Shiloh, 20 have taken official steps to cut ties with him by going to court to use only the last name “Jolie” instead of “Jolie-Pitt.” Shiloh filed to drop the “Pitt” surname in 2024 and Maddox filed late last month. In another blow for Pitt, new broke Tuesday via InTouch that Zahara also has joined her siblings in taking this step.

While Pitt’s public appearances in Europe may make it look like he’s thriving, his representatives have been telling media outlets that being disconnected from his children has been very painful.

Prior to news about Zahara’s official name change, a source told the Daily Mail: “There has been a campaign of alienation (by Jolie) which has been successful.” The source also said: “The antagonism is huge. He has been alienated from the kids completely. It is devastating to him.”

Another source similarly told People: “It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent.”

These statements are seemingly a dig at Jolie, who has been known to like being seen in public with their children. In interviews, she also talks about them with deep affection, and vice versa, according to Buzzfeed News. Pitt, on the other hand, has not talked about or been photographed with any of the children for years.

Sources close to Jolie, and documents she has filed in her legal fights against Pitt, suggest that the actor’s own actions caused the estrangement from his children.

It’s long been believed that the high-profile couple’s shocking split was triggered by an alleged incident involving them and their six children on a private jet returning to Los Angeles and Europe. Pitt allegedly got “verbally abusive and physical” with Jolie and several of the children, with a number of reports saying that Maddox, then 15, was the main focus of Pitt’s aggression on the flight.

Child welfare officials investigated the incident and cleared Pitt of any wrongdoing. Pitt also denied ever being abusive, though he gave multiple interviews in subsequent years, acknowledging that he had to overcome problems with alcohol and learn to better control his anger.

It’s been reported that Maddox immediately distanced himself from his father after that infamous plane flight. Maddox’s connection with his mother has always run deeper, given that she adopted him on her own from an orphanage in Cambodia in 2002 when he was 7 months old. On her own, Jolie also adopted Pax, 22, and Zahara from Vietnam and Ethiopia, respectively. Pitt later joined in adopting these three older children, while he and Jolie then had three biological children, Shiloh and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

The focus on Pitt’s problems with his children ramped up in May 2024 when Shiloh became the first of his children to legally drop the “Pitt” surname, BuzzFeed News reported. A few months later, a source told People that Brad “has virtually no contact with the adult kids.” At this time, Vivienne and Knox were 15, and an insider told People that Pitt still had limited contact with them. But it also was reported that Vivienne didn’t use the “Pitt” surname in her 2024 Playbill credit for the Broadway musical “The Outsiders,” which her mother produced.

Now, it’s looking like Pitt’s relationship with all of six of his children has broken down — given that he was in Europe while two of his children celebrated important milestones.

Prior to Zahara filing for a legal name change, she graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta in May, and Pitt wasn’t present. A source told TMZ at the time that “nothing prevented” Pitt from attending the graduation but the actor didn’t even bother to contact anyone about getting a ticket.

But a source close to Pitt hit back at this report, saying, “You can’t have it both ways – to promote a complete estrangement and then criticize someone for not going to an event when you’ve made sure that they would not be welcome.” The Pitt insider added: “That’s not a situation which he created.”

On June 5, Knox, was recorded at his private high school ceremony in Los Angeles. Wearing a cap and gown, the 17-year-old excitedly dropped the f-bomb as he announced he was participating later that night in an exhibition Muay Thai fight in downtown Los Angeles.

“I’m gonna knock ‘em the (expletive) out. Let’s go!” the teenager declared, eliciting cheerz from the crowd. A clip of him, stepping into the ring, later circulated on line, courtesy of TMZ, and reminded fans of his estranged father’s iconic performance in the 1999 cult classic, “Fight Club.” But again, Pitt wasn’t there to share that moment; Jolie and twin sister, Vivienne, were.
