LOS ANGELES — After missing a second consecutive game due to a head laceration that stemmed from bumping his head at the team hotel, rookie first baseman Bryce Eldridge has entered the concussion protocol and will miss Sunday’s series finale against the Dodgers.

“He’s been kind of visiting with the doc and with [athletic trainer Dave Groeschner] by the minute since yesterday pregame,” said manager Tony Vitello.
Eldridge was initially in Friday’s lineup against the Dodgers before being scratched due to the head laceration. Vitello said on Friday that he expected Eldridge to play on Saturday, but Eldridge was limited to spectating the Giants’ 10-4 loss.

Infielder Brett Harris has started in Eldridge’s place the last two nights.
The 21-year-old Eldridge has been plenty impressive this season, hitting .269 with 17 home runs, 23 doubles and 57 RBIs. Over his last 31 games, Eldridge was hitting .319/.413/.543 with six home runs and 29 RBIs.
