LOS ANGELES — Ahead of Mike Krukow’s final homestand, his longtime Giants broadcasting partner Duane Kuiper revealed in a statement that he was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and began treatment last week at Stanford Medicine.
Kuiper, 76, will miss Monday and Wednesday’s broadcasts, but he will be on the air on Tuesday, as well as the final three games of the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Kuiper wrote Sunday that this cancer is unrelated to the cancer diagnosis several years ago that required chemotherapy and resulted in him missing much of the 2021 season.

“I’ll miss the broadcasts tomorrow and Wednesday as I continue treatment, but I’m looking forward to returning Tuesday and this weekend to celebrate my partner, Mike Krukow, and his remarkable career as he calls his final game before retirement,” Krukow wrote. “I’m incredibly grateful for the care l’m receiving and for the tremendous support from my family, the Giants organization, my broadcast partners and so many others.”
