“We are ankle deep in an investigation that we will be swimming in all day,” said MCSO Sheriff Matt Kendall, who was reached on the phone while he said MCSO personnel were at the scene of a residence on Old River Road where three bodies had been found after an initial call for service around 10 a.m. Oct. 9.
“We are not disclosing names, ages or any other other identification about the deceased at this point,” Kendall said, noting that he was also not disclosing the address of the crime scene, which he described as the only crime scene. He identified the area only as somewhere between Ukiah and Hopland.
When asked if there were any weapons involved, Kendall said there was “no indication of weapons being involved,” and he also made clear that “we have no indication that there are any outstanding suspects, and do not believe there is an imminent threat of danger.”
Friday evening, MCSO Capt. Quincy Cromer reported that the deceased were two juveniles and an adult male, and that the incident appeared to have been a double homicide and suicide perpetrated by the adult male.

He said that no names, ages or genders of the deceased were being released at this time.
“We just cleared the scene,” Cromer said shortly after 5 p.m., explaining that a top concern was the well-being of MCSO personnel, as “this was a very difficult situation for all involved.”
He said the incident was reported by someone who discovered the scene as, or soon after, it happened, and that at this stage of the investigation, “we have no information regarding a possible motive.”
