DUBLIN — A San Leandro man has agreed to serve three years in prison for sexually abusing a teen girl he met through a cellphone game, court records show.

Even after pleading no contest to sexual penetration with a foreign object, Bienvenido Penaranda, 28, remains out of jail. He is expected to surrender on his Oct. 5 sentencing date, court records show.
Penaranda was arrested last year after his victim, a 15-year-old girl, came forward to an official at her high school. He pleaded no contest to the single felony charge on May 26, records show.

In addition to the prison term, he will be given a stay-away order from the victim and be required to register as a sex offender for 20 years, court records show.
Police said at the time of Penaranda’s arrest that he told her he could “get in trouble” when they met at a hotel, and that he memorialized his “progress” with the girl on a notes application on his phone, including “the day we became partners in Mobile Legends.” He allegedly told police he believed she was 16.
