PITTSBURG — A suspect has been arrested and charged in a November 2025 robbery where a man was followed home from Antioch and robbed at gunpoint, court records show.

The robber made off with $5,000 after placing his gun to the victim’s head and fired a warning shot at he left, though authorities say he struggled to operate the pistol. The suspect, a 28-year-old man, was charged with robbery and a firearm enhancement last June, records show.
The criminal case has been placed on hold after the defendant’s attorney voiced concerns about the 28-year-old man’s mental competency, records show. A psychiatrist is expected to issue a report next month.

The suspect was identified based his ties to the Cadillac used by the robber, and cellphone records that showed his location. The man followed the victim from an Antioch bank to Century Boulevard in Pittsburg, where he allegedly robbed the victim and warned him that he didn’t want to be followed, authorities said. Then he allegedly fired a round into the victim’s truck, but only after the gun jammed multiple times.
When police arrested the suspect, he denied participating in the robbery and said he had borrowed the car from a family member after his own vehicle somehow exploded, authorities said.
