This popular fresh-pressed juice bar just opened a new East Bay location

Smoothie fans and hummingbirds rejoice. A new source for nectar, Nékter Juice Bar, has come to Pittsburg.

Specializing in cold-pressed juices and superfood smoothies, as well as acai bowls and various “cleanses,” Nékter is now serving at 2261 West Leland Road (in the Shoppes at San Marco complex). Though it’s been in a soft opening for a month, it will hold its grand opening from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sept. 19, offering a free protein waffle with any $25 purchase and a raffle to win four weeks of smoothies.

The Pittsburg location adds to Nékter’s established presence in the Bay Area, with other branches in Fremont, Danville, Novato and Napa. This particular shop is run by Hena and Farukh Munir, who said in a press statement: “After being part of this community for the past 12 years, opening a Nékter Juice Bar here feels incredibly special to us. We’ve had the privilege of getting to know so many people in this community, and we’re excited to bring something new that we hope will become a part of their everyday lives.”

The new shop has dine-in seating and free Wi-Fi. There’s the option to use online ordering through the Nékter app, too.

The Southern California-based Nékter Juice Bar was founded in 2010 by the husband-and-wife team Steve and Alexis Schulze. There are now more than 200 locations across the U.S.

The bar follows the philosophy of “total ingredient transparency before it was cool,” according to the company website. “We eliminated artificial flavors, hidden fillers, unnecessary sugars, pre-made mixes, concentrates and overly processed ingredients from our entire menu,” it states. “What do we use? Only the freshest produce and real superfoods, always blended fresh to order — nothing else.”

The menu features raw and fresh-pressed juices like The Greenie with spinach, parsley, kale and cucumber and Toxin Flush with lemon, ginger and red apple ($7-$13). There are wellness shots aimed to boost liver health or lessen inflammation. Whey-protein waffles come with toppings like fresh berries, coconut whip, strawberry-chia jam and avocado ($5-$6). There are yogurt and vegan parfaits and a host of customizable acai bowls ($12).

Nékter claims that “each of our bowls, smoothies or juices contain up to 3 pounds of fresh fruits and veggies.” Commuters who enjoy squeezins’ and roughage will have plenty opportunity to try the Pittsburgh shop, as it opens around dawn and closes late in the day.
