RICHMOND — A local resident was sentenced to four years — time he’s already served when factoring in good behavior credits — for a 2022 drunk driving crash that killed his cousin, court records show.
Juan Hipolito-Gudino, 33, pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and drunk driving in exchange for the prison term. He had been jailed since his July 2024 arrest, bout the two years were doubled to four with credit for good behavior, according to court records.
Hipolito-Gudino crashed his car in Richmond on Feb. 5, 2022, killing Crescencio Barrientos Blanco, his cousin. A family member of Barrientos Blanco who contacted this newspaper also blamed Hipolito-Gudino for not calling 911 faster.

The deal was finalized last July, records show.
Despite allegedly driving drunk and causing the crash, Hipolito-Guidno was not charged until more than two years later, in July 2024, court records show. By then, he had picked up a second DUI arrest, from March 2024, also in Richmond, according to authorities. For that arrest, he was sentenced to 180 days concurrent to the four-year term.
