A day after stunning UCLA, the nation’s top-seeded team, in the NCAA’s Los Angeles Regional, Saint Mary’s finds itself matched up against the Bruins again following a 14-1 loss to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Saturday.

The Gaels (35-26) will take on the host Bruins (52-7) Sunday at 1 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium in an NCAA tournament elimination game.
The winner of Sunday’s Gaels-Bruins game advances to meet Cal Poly (38-22) at 6 p.m.in the regional final.

Cal Poly scored six runs in the fourth inning and five more in the sixth on its way to an easy win Saturday. Mustangs catcher Ryan Tayman had three hits, including a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs, and ex-Serra High of San Mateo standout Jake Downing drove in two runs.
Jacob Johnson, whose heroics led to Saint Mary’s 3-2 win over UCLA on Friday, drove in the Gaels’ only run Saturday with a second-inning RBI single.
