SAN JOSE — The site of a shuttered Amy’s Kitchen plant in San Jose has been bought by a Bay Area real estate firm that has become active in acquiring South Bay industrial properties.

Lift Partners, through an affiliate, paid just under $18.4 million for the industrial building, which is at 1885 Las Plumas Ave. in East San Jose, documents filed on Sept. 9 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office show.
In March 2021, Amy’s Kitchen leased the 74,000-square-foot building to open a food production center.
But just over a year later, in July 2022, the organic frozen food maker ceased operations at the Las Plumas site and laid off 331 workers.
“This industrial asset underwent significant food manufacturing improvements in 2021 by Devcon Construction,” real estate executive Jacob Sanchez stated in a marketing brochure.

The building occupies a 5.8-acre site that includes a significant amount of surface parking.
The property is zoned light industrial, a designation whose intended uses are warehouses, wholesaling, and light manufacturing. A special use permit could allow other uses.
A few months ago, Lift Partners paid $25.8 million for an industrial development site at 651 Martin Ave. in Santa Clara, stated JLL, a commercial real estate firm. That site could accommodate data center, manufacturing and warehouse operations.
The strategy that Lift Partners is contemplating for the 1885 Las Plumas site wasn’t immediately known.
