The Round Valley Police Department responded to a report of multiple gravesites vandalized on tribal land in Mendocino County Friday, Sept. 4.

Authorities arrived to the Round Valley Reservation Headquarters Cemetery, near Biggar Lane and Highway 162, to find items damaged and scattered around the cemetery, the Round Valley Tribal Police Department said in a news release.
The Headquarters Cemetery is located about a mile north of Covelo in Mendocino County.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation. No arrests had been announced in connection with this incident Sunday afternoon.

“Cemeteries are sacred places where our loved ones are laid to rest and where families go to honor and remember them,” The Round Valley Tribal Police Department said in the news release. “Please respect these areas and the families of those buried there.”
