For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Aug. 31-Sept. 5.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

On to the nominees:
Bren David, Milpitas flag football: In a 32-7 victory over The King’s Academy, David completed 22 of 30 passes for 260 yards and five touchdowns, and threw three TD passes in a 154-yard performance to beat Menlo-Atherton, 21-0.
Satiarah Galueaga, Archbishop Riordan flag football: Galueaga completed 68 of 97 passes for 740 yards in three games, with 11 touchdowns and only one interception, to lead the Crusaders to season-opening victories over El Camino, Skyline, and San Mateo.
Megan Hohl, Woodside water polo: The senior combined for 11 goals for the Wildcats, including six in a 12-11 victory over Gunn and five in a 15-11 loss to Los Gatos.
Olivia Joseph, Northgate cross country: Joseph won the Saint Mary’s Invitational, covering the 2.0 mile course in 11:16.44 and led Northgate to the team victory.

Maggie Kruger, Las Lomas flag football: Kruger rushed for 132 yards on 19 carries in a 26-14 victory over Castro Valley and gained 160 yards on 21 carries and scored three TDs in a 34-13 victory over Livermore.
Eliot Marsh, St. Ignatius cross country: Marsh won the junior race in 14:30.3 at the Baylands Invitational and had the best overall time among 344 runners.
Malia Perez, Santa Clara flag football: Perez combined for 15 flag pulls and an interception in a 45-42 victory over Gunn and 31-0 triumph over Hillsdale.
Rubi Silva, Berkeley volleyball: The senior setter had 25 assists in a four-set victory over San Leandro and 36 assists in a sweep of Acalanes to lead the Yellowjackets.
Kennedy Whyte, Monte Vista volleyball: The senior outside hitter had 18 kills, nine digs, three assists, and a block to lead the Mustangs to a 3-1 victory over Las Lomas.
Sofie Zlobinsky, Menlo-Atherton water polo: Zlobinsky combined for 11 goals as the Bears beat Gunn, 9-6 behind her five goals, and beat Willow Glen, 13-8, behind her six goals.
