Weather officials are warning Bay Area residents of powerful waves along the coastline through Labor Day weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement on Saturday morning, in effect through Monday. There will be a higher risk of sneaker waves, breaking waves of up to 10 feet at some beaches, and strong rip currents, the federal agency says.

People are advised to stay out of the water and away from rocks, jetties, piers and other infrastructure near the ocean, the agency says.
