The collision occurred in the area of Tully Road and an on-ramp to Highway 101, according to a social media post from the San Jose Police Department. The incident was called into police at 7:45 a.m.
The bicyclist died at the scene of the collision, authorities said. Authorities did not publicly name the person killed pending confirmation of their identity and notification of their next of kin.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was cooperative with SJPD’s investigation, authorities added.
Police asked people to avoid the area as roads are closed for the investigation. Westbound Tully Road will be closed between South King Road and the Highway 101 on-ramp “for an extended amount of time,” they said.
