SAN JOSE — 27 North, a downtown apartment complex for San Jose State University students, was bought for $59.4 million by a Texas-based group, according to a grant deed filed on Aug. 27 at the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.

The Dinerstein Cos., through an affiliate, acquired the 119-unit, 475-bed complex at 27 N 6th St., county documents show. Real estate firms CityView and Symphony Development were the sellers.
CityView and Symphony Development teamed up to build 27 North. It opened to students in 2016.
“At 27 North, you’ll live in supreme comfort while enjoying stress-free roommate matching, access to modern amenities like a resort-style pool, and unbeatable proximity to campus,” according to a post on the property’s website.

Dinerstein Cos. said it has 70 years of experience in the real estate business. The company has developed 80,000 apartment units and 50,000 student housing beds nationwide.
Over the last several months, a growing number of investors have bought a string of apartment complexes in San Jose.
Along with the purchases of market-rate apartment properties, investors have also begun to scoop up properties that specialize in senior living.
