El Cerrito police are investigating a homicide that occurred at the Del Norte Plaza shopping center Sunday afternoon, according to the department.

Authorities said El Cerrito police received a call of a shooting in the parking lot of the shopping center, located at 11299 San Pablo Ave., around 12:17 p.m. Sunday.
El Cerrito, Kensington and Richmond police officers responded to the scene and discovered the victim near Los Moles Restaurant, according to the department.
Authorities said officers attempted to provide medical aid, but the man died of his injuries.
According to the department, witnesses reported that two suspects became involved in an altercation with the victim at his car and shot him. After the shooting, the suspects fled the area in a dark-colored sedan by driving southbound on S. 56th St., according to authorities.

The El Cerrito Police Department described one of the suspects as wearing a black mask and a black North Face jacket, while the other was wearing a hat and a black Nike jacket.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Sunday, the El Cerrito Police Department said officers located additional information about the suspect vehicle, which they identified as a 2016 or newer gray Nissan Maxima.
