Antioch police officers arrested a 39-year-old woman on erratic driving charges Sunday afternoon after she allegedly sideswiped a vehicle and nearly struck a pedestrian, authorities said.

The Antioch Police Department said officers were dispatched around 2:14 p.m. Sunday to reports of a white Volkswagen Tiguan being driven erratically near the 1500 block of Yellowstone Drive.
The department said officers located the vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue near East 14th Street, and the vehicle had two flat tires and significant body damage consistent with multiple collisions.
When an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield, initiating a low-speed pursuit, according to the authorities.
The department said despite the relatively low speeds, the driver continued to drive erratically, including driving into oncoming traffic lanes while traveling along Hargrove Street toward East 18th Street.

Officers deployed spike strips on East 18th Street, but the driver avoided them by turning into a nearby Rite Aid parking lot, the department said.
Once inside the parking lot, the vehicle slowed, allowing responding officers to box it in, authorities said. The department said the driver attempted to escape by intentionally ramming a patrol vehicle.
Officers removed the driver from the vehicle and took her into custody, authorities said. She was treated at a local hospital as a precaution and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of driving under the influence, evading an officer while driving against traffic, hit-and-run and assault on an officer with a deadly weapon, the department said.
Authorities said two patrol vehicles were damaged during the incident and one officer sustained minor cuts from broken glass.
