The shooting was reported at 12:13 p.m. at a home on San Pedro Drive, according to the Fremont Police Department. Officers arrived to find a person suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The male victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The death marked the city’s third homicide of the year.
Officers arrested an undisclosed number of people as they tried to leave the scene, police said, noting that an initial investigation indicated a “group of male subjects” was at the home when the shooting happened.
“This case remains an active investigation,” police said in a news release. “At this time, we do not believe there are any outstanding subjects or threats to public safety.”
No other details were released Friday.
