PITTSBURG — Two people were hospitalized Friday after a house caught fire, officials said.

The blaze happened on Atherton Avenue at about 11:40 a.m. and resulted in one person suffering second- and third-degree burns, spokesperson Capt. Victor Daniel of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said. The other person suffered smoke inhalation.

Crews had the one-alarm fire knocked down in about six minutes.
Investigators still were probing what caused the fire. Daniel said they had no reason to consider it suspicious.
