Fairfield Police Department investigators say they now believe foul play was involved in the disappearance of 36-year-old Chantel Brooks, who has not been seen since the early morning hours of July 17.

In a statement Tuesday, police said detectives have developed information during their investigation that led them to believe Brooks’ disappearance “involved foul play.”
The department said the investigation has included dozens of search warrants, multiple coordinated ground searches involving search-and-rescue resources through the California Office of Emergency Services, and extensive aerial drone grid searches, to no avail.
Police also are working closely with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office as detectives continue following leads in the case, investigators said.
“Our investigation will remain active as we continue working to find Chantel and determine what happened to her,” the department release said. “We remain committed to providing answers to her family and our community.”
Brooks was last seen on surveillance footage in Fairfield at about 1:45 a.m. July 17, when she left a CVS store in the 300 block of East Travis Boulevard. She was captured on camera approaching her vehicle in the parking lot.

About 20 minutes after midnight that morning, Brooks had been recorded leaving her place of employment on the 700 block of Eddy Street in San Francisco. She was wearing a brown multicolored brimmed hat, a red zip-up sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and brown fuzzy boots.
Brooks is described by police as a Black female, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
She drives a black 2021 Infiniti QX50 SUV with California license plate 9SBB134.
Police are asking anyone who has information about Brooks’ whereabouts, her vehicle or who may have seen either Brooks or her vehicle since the early morning hours of July 17 to contact law enforcement.
