SAN FRANCISCO — The WNBA All-Star Game is coming to the City.
In a year in which the Bay Area has been the epicenter of two of the biggest sporting events in the world — the Super Bowl in February and the World Cup this summer — San Francisco kept the momentum rolling.

The WNBA announced Tuesday morning that the 2027 edition of the league’s All-Star showcase will be played at Chase Center on July 31.
“We are thrilled to bring WNBA All-Star to the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time,” WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a news release. “The Golden State Valkyries have brought incredible energy and excitement to the WNBA from the moment they were announced as an expansion team in 2023, and the response from fans across the Bay Area has been remarkable.
“Valkyries fans have embraced this team with an extraordinary level of passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see that energy on full display for an unforgettable All-Star weekend next summer.”
The news follows Chase Center hosting the NBA All-Star Game in 2025 as well as the men’s NCAA Tournament West Regional. The Bay Area will also host some Olympic soccer matches and the MLB All-Star Game in 2028.
“Hosting WNBA All-Star in only our third season is an incredible honor and a reflection of everything this fan base, this region, and this organization have built together,” Jess Smith, the Valkyries’ president, said in the release. “From day one, the Bay Area has shown up for this team in a way that’s redefined what’s possible in women’s basketball, and we can’t wait to put that same energy on display for the entire league next summer.”
In addition to the namesake contest featuring the league’s top stars, San Francisco will also host the Shooting Stars competition and 3-point contest on July 30. The sixth annual WNBA Live convention will be held at Moscone Center, and there will be community impact events and additional fan experiences, watch parties and programming throughout the region, the release said.
All-Star Friday night will air on ESPN at 5 p.m. on July 30, and the All-Star Game airs on ABC at 5:30 p.m. on July 31.
