A woman who died after a car went off a Santa Cruz cliff into the ocean has been identified by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

She was publicly identified Monday as Alli Singh, 19, from Selma, in Fresno County. The University of California, Santa Cruz said she was a student studying psychology.
The car drove off a bluff on West Cliff Drive near Steamer Lane around 12:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.

Rescue crews found that one of the occupants had escaped the vehicle and suffered only minor injuries. The second occupant — Singh — was still in the car, and was reached by four rescue swimmers. She was taken to a medical facility, where she died.
