A person was arrested after allegedly shooting another person at Alameda’s South Shore Center shopping mall on Saturday afternoon, police said.

At around 1:15 p.m., the suspect approached another person in the mall’s parking lot and demanded their property. When the person refused, a struggle ensued, and a third person intervened to stop the suspect.
During the struggle, a firearm was discharged and struck the person who intervened in the leg. They were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to a local hospital. The initial victim was treated at the scene. Police did not release the name of the suspect.
