OAKLAND — Federal prosecutors here have filed gun charges against a prominent Bay Area rapper, alleging he possessed a pistol with an obliterated serial number found during a police raid in Albany last March, court records show.

Jarico Anderson, who raps under the stage name Dreamllife Rizzy, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, court records show. Federal prosecutors have moved to detain Anderson, citing his alleged status as a gang member and threats they say he made on Instagram; a judge will rule on the motion Wednesday morning.
Anderson has survived multiple alleged attempts on his life: In 2022, he was shot in the legs in Pittsburg, and in February 2025, when he was shot in the foot while driving on Highway 24 in Oakland. The 2022 shooting was attributed to a feud between Anderson’s alleged gang and rivals. The gun used to shoot him in Oakland was later allegedly found in the possession of two rival gang members and rappers in Stockton, EBK Jaaybo and Baby Maxx — real names Jaymani Gorman and Xavier Jones — who face federal charges in Arkansas, according to court records.

Prosecutors have also named Anderson as a suspect in unsolved homicides, but he has avoided charges thus far. Federal prosecutors say he was arrested on suspicion of murder in August 2021, but later released. In San Francisco, police listed him as a suspect in the April, 3, 2022 killings of 22-year-old Brandon Alexander Cheese and 20-year-old Kieran Carlson, but again, he was never charged. Authorities have offered a $500,000 reward for information in the double homicide.
The federal gun case is a copy of charges filed against Anderson earlier this year in Alameda County Superior Court. He had been released while that case was pending, court records show.
