SAN MATEO – A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and injuring his passenger in a series of hit-and-run collisions Tuesday in San Mateo, police said.

Officers were called to the intersection of Shoreview and Kehoe avenues, near Bayside Academy, around 2:45 p.m. for a report of reckless driving and a hit-and-run involving a tan Chevrolet pickup truck, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
They arrived to find several hit-and-run collisions had happened in the area, police said.
Officers found the boy and the truck in the 900 block of Norton Street, police said, adding that he was intoxicated and uncooperative.

While the boy was being detained, officers learned a juvenile female passenger in the truck had suffered minor injuries during the collisions, police said. She was turned over to a parent.
Police said the boy was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run causing injury. He was taken to an area hospital and later released to the custody of a guardian.
