RICHMOND — One person died and another was seriously injured Tuesday in what police said appears to be a double stabbing.

Authorities did not immediately identify the dead person, pending the investigation and contacting of relatives. That person died after being taken by ambulance from the 1700 block of Wood Place to a hospital.
The second person stabbed remained in stable condition Wednesday morning. Police said that person is expected to survive.
In a statement, police said officers responded about 11:20 p.m. to reports of a stabbing. Both of the victims were down when officers arrived, police said. They added that they believe it was an isolated incident and that there was no further danger to the public.

The homicide is the fifth one this year investigated by Richmond police. Police did not release information on any possible suspect.
