Five teenage boys were killed when their car went off a Colorado cliff, police reported.

The crash, believed to have occurred late Saturday, was discovered around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, after a 911 caller reported wreckage below a neighborhood on a high bluff in Grand Junction.
The car had apparently veered off Lookout Lane and gone off the edge, 250 feet above the Gunnison River, said the report from the city’s police.

The car’s occupants were all 17-year-old boys, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said. Their names have not been officially released.
Three, including the driver and the front-seat passenger, were wearing seatbelts. The two others were not, and were ejected from the car, the coroner’s office said.

“Speed is being looked at as a factor in this crash,” the police statement said.
