CONCORD – An East Bay nonprofit organization is reeling after its only truck was taken over the weekend.

The truck – a 2004 Ford F-350 – was stolen Sunday from the front entry of the Monument Crisis Center in Concord, the nonprofit organization said in a news release.
The center said it relies on the truck to haul donated food, diapers and other necessities for those in need. Food bags were set to be delivered Thursday to more than 150 clients in Pittsburg.
“Today, we need help locating our only truck so we can support our families and seniors who rely on our Pittsburg Food Distribution get the groceries they are counting on,” Monument Crisis Center Executive Director Daniel Scherer, said in a statement.
The theft came just a day after the center’s annual backpack giveaway.
“We are saddened that the joy of our happiest day of the year has been dimmed by this theft,” Scherer said.
This is the second time the center has had a truck stolen. The first theft happened in 2016.
The center said it is seeking any leads or information regarding the theft and asked people to contact the Concord Police Department tip line at 925-603-5836 to help with the search.
