— Ruby Rippey, in an essay about her affair 20 years ago with Gavin Newsom, then mayor of San Francisco and both her and her then-husband’s boss. While taking responsibility for her role in the affair, she suggested the greater responsibility was his. Newsom’s office said he’d “acknowledged his role and publicly apologized” decades ago and “does not have anything further to add.”
