HAYWARD — A 19-year-old man has been charged with sexually abusing a girl after they met on Snapchat and he allegedly told her he was 17.

Jose Rincon, of Hayward, was charged with two counts of committing a lewd act on a child. He is set to appear in court to enter a plea on Aug. 18, and has been released on $75,000 bail, records show.
The alleged victim’s father alerted police on June 4 after going through her daughter’s phone. Police say they determined that after meeting on Snapchat, Rincon picked the girl up, drove her to Chabot College, and that the alleged sexual abuse occurred in a parked car there, according to court records.

The girl later learned Rincon’s true age and he claimed he’d taken videos of them without her consent, police said. When detectives interviewed Rincon on July 2, he allegedly attempted to conceal two bracelets on his arm that police matched to a video of the girl found on his phone, authorities said in court records.
Rincon has been ordered not to communicate with minors as a condition of his release.
