A 42-year-old man was arrested Thursday after he poured gasoline on a vehicle in Stockton’s Bearcreek district and intentionally set it on fire, police alleged.

Officers responded around 7:30 a.m. to the 2900 block of Raleigh Drive, where they found the suspect at the scene, according to the Stockton Police Department.
Police alleged the man was walking in the area carrying a gas can when he doused a vehicle with gasoline, set it on fire and then watched it burn.

Officers took the suspect into custody. Police identified him as Emanuel Ariza, 42, who was booked into jail on suspicion of arson.
The extent of the damage to the vehicle was not immediately available. Police did not release a possible motive.
