ANTIOCH – A 42-year-old man died after he crashed into a tree Tuesday night in Antioch, police said.

The solo-vehicle collision was reported just after 7 p.m. on Hillcrest Avenue near Golden Bear Drive, Antioch police Lt. Gary Lowther said in a news release. Officers arrived to find the driver unconscious and suffering from significant injuries.
Lowther said the man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Lowther said.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the collision.
