SAN JOSE — A shooting left one man dead and two others injured early Sunday in San Jose, police said.

Officers were called to the area of South Seventh Street and Leo Avenue around 2:55 a.m. for a report of a shooting, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release. They arrived to find a pair of men suffering from at least one gunshot wound each.
One man died from his injuries at the scene while the other was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, Hernandez said. The second man was later stabilized.
At the same time, officers spotted a car speeding in the area of South 11th and Humboldt streets, Hernandez said, adding that they stopped the car and found a third victim. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The identity of the man who died will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

The death marked San Jose’s 16th homicide of 2026. At this point last year, police had investigated the same number of killings.
No arrests were announced Monday and police did not release a description of the suspect.
