Firefighters stopped the progress Sunday evening of a 132-acre fire burning in the rural hills and ranch lands south of Livermore, Cal Fire’s Santa Clara County unit said.

At least 10 engines and four hand crews were called to fight the Mines Fire near the intersections of Mines Road and San Antonio Valley Road, according to Watch Duty. The area is dotted with oaks and scrub, with scattered homes.
“Crews are continuing their hard work on the ground to reinforce lines and stop the spread of this fire,” the wildfire agency said at 5:30. By 7:30, firefighters had halted the spread, but it still remained 10% contained. Cal Fire’s Sweetwater Fire Station is nearby on Mines Road.
Cal Fire also sent air support before noon Sunday to fight the 5-acre “Geary Fire” in south Alameda County, at Geary Road and Alameda Creek, in another hilly region Sunday.

In the Sierra, evacuation orders had been posted in Sonora, where the Dove Fire had consumed more than 200 acres Sunday evening, Cal Fire said. Before 8 p.m., Highway 108 was closed between Wigwam Road and Washington Street.
“The Dove fire is holding within the retardant lines, yet still has a moderate rate of spread,” Cal Fire said at about 5:30 p.m. “Firefighters continue to engage the fire to establish and reinforce containment lines.”
The fires were sparked five days after the Little Fire north of Pleasanton forced numerous neighborhoods around the Ruby Hills area to evacuate. The blaze came within a couple of hundred feet of homes.
