The Grant Fire in San Jose had stopped progressing Sunday afternoon, burning through 4.47 acres in the hills by evening, according to reports on Watch Duty.

The vegetation fire broke out near Mt. Hamilton Road and Grant Ranch Park near Highway 130 around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The fire burned through 1.5 acres at a moderate rate of spread into heavy brush. It reached around 3 acres, with the potential to burn up to 25 acres due to wind in the grass and brush.

Crews stopped the fire from spreading around 2:55 p.m., according to Watch Duty updates. Air tankers attacked the blaze by dropping retardant.
The Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit, San Jose Fire Department and Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department are addressing the blaze. They advised people to continue to avoid the area of Grant Road and Mt. Hamilton Road. There was no information on Watch Duty about how much of the fire was contained.
