SAN RAMON — Chevron will shift nearly 200 jobs out of the Bay Area to Texas as the company pushes to downsize in California and expand in the Lone Star State.

The company reported in a WARN notice it will move 180 jobs by Sept. 8 out of an office site in the Bishop Ranch neighborhood in San Ramon, according to the state Employment Development Department.
“In connection with Chevron’s previously announced relocation of its corporate headquarters to Houston, Tex., Chevron is providing advance notice of the planned relocation of employees from its Chevron Lakeside location,” the company stated.
The positions affected were noted as “relocations,” not terminations or layoffs.
Chevron, however, didn’t specify whether the affected workers would continue to be employed at the company if they chose not to move to Texas.

“This notice addresses the planned relocation of approximately 180 employees in 2026,” Chevron stated. “Employees may also voluntarily choose to move earlier than scheduled.”
In October 2025, Chevron reduced staffing in San Ramon by 68 positions, bringing the total downsizing in the city to 248.
Chevron’s refining operations in California, including in Richmond, weren’t affected by the downsizing decision, as reported to the EDD.
