SAN FRANCISCO — Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has apologized for a suspected hit-and-run crash last week in Napa County.

The incident happened Friday in Yountville, an unincorporated town located 43 miles north of San Francisco.
“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” a Pelosi family spokesperson said in a statement. “Speaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.”
In a news release Saturday, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said the 86-year-old Pelosi crashed his convertible into an unoccupied car parked in the 6700 block of Yount Street and kept driving. The collision left both vehicles with significant damage.
Deputies found Pelosi a short time later and identified him as the person responsible for the crash, the sheriff’s office said, adding that alcohol was ruled out as a contributing factor.

The sheriff’s office said Pelosi admitted to hitting something, but he did not know what he hit and kept driving.
He was not arrested, which the sheriff’s Office said is typical for such misdemeanor offenses.
The sheriff’s office said it will refer the case to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution, as well as submit a re-evaluation referral form to the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
Pelosi was arrested after a crash near Yountville in May 2023. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation.
