ANTIOCH — An Antioch man with an outstanding warrant was arrested after barricading himself inside an apartment for hours Friday, officials said.

Antioch Police Officers arrived at a residential building on the 1600 block of Aster Drive after a call was made to dispatch at 11 a.m. alerting officials to a disturbance involving a man who was possibly injured and bleeding.
The man was asked to exit his unit to receive medical care.
“He refused, barricaded himself inside, threatened to harm officers and to set the apartment on fire, and was seen in possession of a gasoline container,” the Antioch Police Department said in a statement.
Officers evacuated nearby apartments out of precaution. The man eventually exited the home around 4:09 p.m. after hours of negotiations by the department’s crisis negotiators and SWAT team, with support from a mobile crisis response team through Contra Costa Health’s Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime crisis program.

The man was transported to a nearby medical facility after being assessed by paramedics. He’ll be booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for his outstanding warrant after being medically cleared. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office could bring additional charges against the man.
