Chapman appeared to injure himself in the bottom of the sixth inning while fielding a high chopper off the bat of the Diamondbacks’ Gabriel Moreno. After making the play to end the inning, cameras captured Chapman grimacing as he made his way off the field.
Following a conversation with a trainer, Chapman stayed in the game to hit for himself in the top of the seventh. Chapman popped out to end the inning but could barely jog down the first-base line. He was then removed from the game.
