A 17-year-old boy from San Jose and two adults were identified Tuesday as the three people killed in a crash in late June off Highway 9 near Saratoga.

Ranvir Randhawa, 17, died in the June 22 crash, alongside Manjot Dhaliwal, 21, and Ajesh Saini, 27, according to the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner. Dhaliwal hailed from Yuba City, while Saini was from Salem, Ore., the agency said.
All three of them were in a 2024 BMW M3 sedan around 9:30 that evening when it went off Highway 9 east of Redwood Gulch Road and crashed down an embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities suspect the sedan’s driver lost control of the car at some point, but a more precise cause for the crash remains under investigation.

The wreck shut down the highway for about three hours while investigators examined the scene.
