SAN JOSE — A small aircraft crashed Monday morning near a small airport, authorities said.

Two people were on board the gyrocopter, which uses rotor blades to get lift and is basically a hybrid of an airplane and helicopter. In a social media post, the San Jose fire Department said the aircraft went down near the Reid-Hillview Airport.
One of the people in the aircraft went by ambulance to a hospital and was released after being assessed and treated for moderate injuries, fire officials said. The other person in the plane suffered injuries that were deemed minor.

The crash happened about 11:40 a.m. and affected traffic on eastbound Tully Road at Eastridge Lane. The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating.
