ANTIOCH – Crews on Friday night were battling a wildfire in south Antioch, fire officials said.
The blaze, dubbed the Deer Fire, broke out around 9:20 p.m. near the intersection of Deer Valley Road and Deer Hill Lane, according to the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit.
Cal Fire was joined at the scene by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

In an update around 10:25 p.m., Cal Fire said the blaze had consumed an estimated 30 acres. Crews managed to halt the fire’s forward progress roughly 10 minutes later. Containment stood at 0%.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to structures.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
