BRENTWOOD — Highway 4 in Brentwood will be closed in both directions Sunday night for a paving project, according to the California Department of Transportation.

Starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, the eastbound direction will be shut down between Lone Tree Way and Walnut Boulevard, and the westbound direction will be shut down between Walnut Boulevard and Balfour Drive, Caltrans said in a news release Friday.
The westbound direction is slated to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday and the eastbound direction at 8 a.m. Monday.

Caltrans said crews will apply a final layer of rubberized hot-mix asphalt during the closure.
Lane and ramp closures will continue to take place Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., according to Caltrans. The project is expected to wrap up next summer.
