The full-service Asian grocery store will be located at 200 NewPark Mall Road in Newark, filling a space that emptied out in March 2025 when long-time NewPark mall anchor Macy’s closed its doors.
In recent days, T&T opened a store totaling 50,000 square feet that fills an empty Westgate Center retail space at 1600 Saratoga Ave. in southwest San Jose. That represented T&T’s first California store.
Canada-based T&T will also open Bay Area stores in San Francisco and Millbrae.
The new T&T Supermarket in Newark will be the grocery retailer’s largest store in California to date, according to T&T.
“The store is expected to open in the winter of 2027 and will serve customers throughout Newark, Fremont, Union City, Hayward and surrounding East Bay communities,” T&T stated.

T&T’s Newark store will total 72,600 square feet, according to the retailer. The Asian market will feature prepared foods, bakery offerings, and wide-ranging grocery, beverage and specialty merchandise products from across Asia.
Customers can expect freshly baked breads and pastries, restaurant-quality prepared foods, live seafood, Asian beauty products, and more than 300 T&T private-label items.
The made-to-order specialties will include fantuan, or Taiwanese rice rolls, and street-style savory crepes. The bakery will offer more than 150 varieties of breads, pastries and desserts.
“The store is expected to create approximately 400 local jobs across store operations, culinary, and management positions,” T&T Supermarket stated.
