SAN JOSE — A pedestrian died in a vehicle collision early Friday in a quiet residential neighborhood in the city’s Evergreen area, police said.

The deadly collision was reported at 6:30 a.m. near Glen Donegal Drive and Glen Ferguson Circle in the Hidden Glen neighborhood, according to San Jose police.
The police department did not immediately release additional details about the collision, but stated in a social media post that surrounding streets will be closed for several hours while traffic investigators examine the site.

Friday’s collision marks the 20th roadway death of the year in San Jose, and the ninth to involve a pedestrian who died, according to data compiled by this news organization. It is also the second traffic death this week; a bicyclist was killed in a vehicle collision Tuesday on North Capitol Avenue, which ended a stretch of more than a month in which the city recorded no deadly collisions.
