A San Jose man was arrested June 3 on suspicion of assault after an incident in April, authorities said.

Just before 11:30 a.m. on April 11, police were called to the scene of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 4100 block of The Woods Drive, according to a news release from the San Jose Police Department.
Police found that two adult men had been involved in an altercation when one of the men struck the other multiple times, authorities said. The suspect was also in possession of a firearm.
When the victim tried to flee from the suspect, he restrained him and continued to assault him, authorities added.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital, authorities added.

In their investigation, authorities determined the identity of the 32-year-old suspect. They obtained both an arrest warrant and search warrant for his residence, police said.
On June 3, police went to serve the warrants but the suspect did not follow commands given by police and barricaded himself inside a residence located in the area of Alum Rock Avenue and Dale Drive, authorities said. He was eventually convinced to leave the building by officers from the SJPD Special Operations Unit.
The suspect was then booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, authorities said.
